The Tennessee Sheriff’s Association (TSA) selected Sheriff Russell Barker to serve on the Tennessee Dangerous Drugs Task Force (TDDTF) Executive Board. Sheriff Barker is one of three sheriffs named to this board and he will represent East Tennessee.

The TDDTF is Co-Chaired by TBI Director David Rausch and United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Trey Hamilton. The mission of the TDDTF is to reduce the availability and illegal use of harmful drugs such as Fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin and other scheduled drugs; by increasing public safety through supplying equipment, training, intelligence, and investigative tools to assist law enforcement and prosecutors in strategically identifying, targeting, prosecuting drug offenders.

Sheriff Barker spent his last 6 years prior to being elected in 2018 with the 7th Judicial Crime Task Force (CTF), whose primary focus was narcotics investigations and violent crimes. From 2014 until he took office he served as the CTF Director. Sheriff Barker stated, “I have witnessed not just through my time in law enforcement, but within my own family the destruction addiction and illegal narcotics causes. I’m passionate about this and I am honored to be apart of this very important component of making Anderson County and Tennessee a better safer place for everyone.”
