Diana Harshbarger, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 1st district since 2021, has been vocal about recent decisions affecting small businesses and regulations on U.S. companies. Born in Kingsport, Tennessee in 1960, Harshbarger graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
On March 20, 2025, Rep. Diana Harshbarger expressed concern over a decision that she believes could negatively impact small business owners and consumers. “This decision threatens to break the tools small business owners use to connect with customers, make it harder for people to search for information online, and expose consumers to privacy and security threats. At the same time, foreign businesses are unaffected by these…” she stated.
In another post on the same day, Harshbarger criticized targeted regulations that she argues hinder U.S. companies’ ability to innovate and compete globally. She supported former President Donald Trump’s stance against what she describes as foreign discrimination: “These targeted regulations undermine the ability for US companies to innovate and compete on the world stage. @realDonaldTrump is right to strongly push back on this kind of foreign discrimination.”
Later that day, Harshbarger shared her experience visiting Hamblen County’s new Justice Center in Morristown alongside local officials: “It was an absolute pleasure to spend time today in Hamblen County with Mayor Chris Cutshaw, Sheriff Chad Mullins, and other elected officials to get a first hand look at the new state of the art Justice Center in Morristown.”
