Diana Harshbarger, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Tennessee’s 1st district since 2021, recently shared her views on several topics through a series of tweets. Harshbarger, who succeeded Phil Roe in Congress, expressed her support for law enforcement, criticized government-funded media, and discussed the impact of tax policies.
On May 15, 2025, Harshbarger commemorated National Police Week by acknowledging the efforts of police officers. She stated: “This National Police Week, I’m reminded of all our incredible officers across East Tennessee and our nation. We are so appreciative of everything you do, and I’m proud to stand with our boys in blue!”
In another tweet posted shortly after on the same day, Harshbarger criticized certain media outlets by saying: “Let’s call stations like NPR what they are: government-funded propaganda. They shouldn’t get a single dime of your taxpayer dollars.” This statement reflects her stance against public funding for media organizations she perceives as biased.
Later that evening, Harshbarger addressed economic issues related to tax policies implemented during Donald Trump’s presidency. She tweeted: “President Trump’s tax cuts relieved working families, boosted the economy, and brought jobs back. Letting them expire will result in a massive tax hike. We can’t let that happen.” Her remarks underscore her advocacy for maintaining these tax cuts to prevent potential financial burdens on families.
Diana Harshbarger was born in Kingsport, Tennessee in 1960 and continues to reside there. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University.
