Lincoln Memorial University Women’s Volleyball Defeats Kentucky State in 5

Women's Volleyball (2-6) add a game to their win column after beating Kentucky State in five sets.  They came back from an 0-2 start in the game and did not give up another set from then on.  (23-25), (21-25), (25-22), (25-14), (15-5).  

 

Set 1: LMU and Kentucky State were neck and neck throughout the whole match until Kentucky State pulled away just at the end.

 

Set 2:  Kentucky State got ahead with a 4-1 lead until it became all tied up at 5 by a kill from Freshman Maggie Sanderson.  The set was close until the Thorobreds pulled away at the end.  

 

Set 3: Railsplitters found a rhythm and got a 7-point lead with kills from Sanderson, and Lisi until a kill by Thorobred Shaska Davis ended it.  That did not stop them from winning this set and giving them another chance.

 

Set 4:  LMU found themselves up quick once again until Kentucky State came back and tied it up at 8.  The Railsplitters then pulled away from 15-13 to 20-13.  With the set ending at 25-14, sending them into a fifth set.

 

Set 5:  There wasn't much breathing room for the Thorobreds in this set before LMU quickly took over this set and shut down Kentucky State with a 15-5 finish.

 

Inside the Box Score:

Kristen Moehring led with 18 kills along with chipping in two aces.  

Maggie Sanderson had 11 kills while Ketura Margaret had 8.  

Freshman Setter Amanda Lisi had 43 assists.

MJ Trujillo had 16 digs while Maggie Sanderson and Amanda Lisi each had 10.
