Alexa Smiddy, fresh off a 38-point performance in Saturday's win over Limestone, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The freshman guard from Somerset, Ky., scored the fourth-most points in a single game in Lincoln Memorial women's basketball history in the 75-61 win against the Saints in Tex Turner Arena. She made 11 of 22 field goal attempts and drained 12 of 15 free throws to lead the Lady Railsplitters to victory in the SAC contest.

Smiddy also keyed the team's 92-67 win at Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday night with 12 points and six assists. All told, she averaged 25 points and 4.5 assists per game in the two wins.

This is Smiddy's second conference player of the week honor this season after also earning the recognition on Nov. 14 following the opening week of the season. The newcomer is averaging 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game through 11 games this season.

The Lady Railsplitters will return from Christmas Break on Jan. 4 for a game at UVA Wise.
