The Lincoln Memorial softball team dropped a pair of close games to King in Wednesday's doubleheader at King's Softball Field.

The No. 15 Railsplitters (11-3) fell 5-4 in the first game and 5-3 in the second game of the twinbill to snap a 4-game winning streak.

Game 1: King 5, Lincoln Memorial 4

The host Tornado got on the board first with 3 runs in the Bottom of the 2nd inning, but McKenzie Henry's RBI double followed by Katie Tuggle and Victoria Conley scoring on wild pitches tied the score at 3-3 after the Top of the 6th.

King score 2 more runs in its half of the 6th frame to regain the lead. Sierra Hucklebee smoked a solo homer to left field to get the Railsplitters to within 5-4, but the Tornado put the clamps on after that to take the opener against their in-state rival.

King's Marleigh Duncan earned the win to improve to 1-0 on the season, while Emma Frost was hit with her first loss of the year after allowing 5 runs on 9 hits in 6.0 innings of work.

Game 2: King 5, Lincoln Memorial 3

King again went ahead by multiple runs early, scoring twice in the Bottom of the 1st. The Railsplitters responded with single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, highlighted by a Katy Pozzuto solo shot in the 2nd, to take a 3-2 lead.

The Tornado scored 3 in their half of the 4th to account for the final scoring of the day and earn the sweep.

King's Madison Walter improved to 1-2 on the season with the win, while Lincoln Memorial's Hayley Tamaro (4-2) took the loss after surrendering 5 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings in the circle.
