The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team defeated Limestone 87-73 Wednesday night at the Timken Center to sweep the season series with the Saints.
The No. 7 Railsplitters (25-2, 15-1 South Atlantic Conference) got 24 points and 18 rebounds from Martez Brown and 20 points from Me'Kell Burries to overcome being down a couple of mainstays in the lineup. Chase Rankin added 19 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals to lead Lincoln Memorial to its sixth straight winning decision.
The visitors led for the balance of the game, but the pesky Saints (11-14, 6-9 SAC) kept their deficit within single digits for the majority of the contest until the Railsplitters broke through with a Matthew Sells 3-pointer with just over three minutes to play that put them up 77-67.
Sells and Jordan Guest chipped in 10 points each while Luke Bartemes added two points to account for the remainder of the Lincoln Memorial scoring. The Railsplitters had their typical efficient offense working, outshooting Limestone 53.1 percent (34-64) to 40.3 percent (27-67) from the field and outscoring the Saints 50 to 26 in points in the paint.
