No. 12 Walters State took fifth place in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, shooting a 305 in the final round on Tuesday.
As a team, the Senators finished at 22-over (886). Carson-Newman won the tournament with a seven-under score.
Leading the way for Walters State was AJ Rinehart. Rinehart finished in a tie for seventh place at one-over. On Tuesday, Rinehart shot a two-over (74) and birdied the third, 12th, 14th and 15th holes.
Along with Rinehart, Chad Homan finished in a tie for 14th place at four-over. Homan shot four-over (78) on Tuesday, with birdies on the third and 12th holes.
Rounding out scoring for Walters State were Jeremy Ellis (T26) and JT McKenzie (T32). Ellis finished the tournament at eight-over, shooting a three-over in round three with birdies on 10 and 18. McKenzie finished the tournament at nine-over, shooting an 80 on Tuesday with birdies on two and 15.
Sawyer Spoone also closed out the tournament on Tuesday, shooting an 84 in the final round.
