Rep. Diana Harshbarger, representing Tennessee's 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, has recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding significant legislative and national security issues. Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, and an alumna of East Tennessee State University, Harshbarger took over from Phil Roe in 2021.
On January 29, 2025, Rep. Harshbarger highlighted efforts by President Trump and Republicans to prevent tragedies similar to the murder of Laken Riley. She stated that "President Trump and Republicans are working every day to ensure a tragedy like the murder of Laken Riley never happens again, and today’s signing of the Laken Riley Act is an important first step in securing that future."
Later on January 29, she commented on President Trump's policies concerning illegal immigration. In her tweet at that time, she mentioned that "Criminal illegal aliens will feel right at home in Guantanamo Bay. President Trump just keeps on winning."
On January 30, Rep. Harshbarger addressed reports about survivors being recovered from a collision at DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport). She expressed concern and urged for prayers for those affected: "Reports are coming in that survivors are being recovered from the collision at DCA. I’m continuing to monitor the situation closely. Please join me in praying for everyone involved as we learn more and first responders work on rescue and recovery."
