Here are a few reminders on how to have a safe & fun Halloween.
Tips while walking thru neighborhoods:
Fasten reflective tape or glow-in-the-dark stickers to bags & costumes and/or have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights. Kids can even wear glow sticks as bracelets or necklaces.
Kids under age 12 should be accompanied & supervised by a parent or responsible adult.
Carry a flashlight with fresh batteries.
Put down the electronic devices while walking!
Don’t cut across yards & never cross the street between parked cars.
Only visit homes with a porch light on & never enter a home or a vehicle for a treat.
Notify law enforcement authorities immediately of any unlawful or suspicious activity.
Tips for driving the kids:
Drive slowly & remember excited kids can move quickly and in unpredictable ways.
Keep headlights on even before sunset to spot children from a distance.
Tips if you expect trick-or-treaters:
Keep your home safe for the trick-or-treaters by checking your porch, steps & walkways and remove anything that could cause a child to trip or fall.
Keep all pets far away from treat-or-treaters.
Tips for checking candy:
Check every treat to make sure it is sealed and throw out candy with torn packages or holes.
Do not eat homemade treats prepared by anyone you don’t know.
Throw away suspicious or questionable items of any kind!
We want you to have a fun & safe time.
Happy Halloween
