PRESS RELEASE
December 1, 2022
Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins states that no one working for the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office will ever make solicitation calls asking for money on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office or the Fraternal Order of Police.
“This time of year when scammers are working overtime, often identifying themselves as employees or representatives of law enforcement, the public needs to know these calls are by no means legitimate,” Sheriff Mullins said.
He added that if anyone receives such a call they should immediately hang up and they should never divulge any personal information to the scammer, including their address.
Although none of these calls has, to date, been reported to the Sheriff’s Office, several surrounding counties are experiencing these types of scams.
